Knit Boot Toppers
Hey momoluvers! It's momo and today I'm going to be showing you how to make this amazingly easy craft that is perfect for a lazy day weekend activity. I hope y'all have fun making this!
Remember to vote, I really appreciate it! My goal is to win the grand prize because the gift card would be so amazing. During the winter, I sell coffee cozies (check out a tutorial for this on my page) and yarn is expensive! I really would appreciate if you vote for me, so that I would be able to make coffee cozies for less money, thanks y'all!
3. Knitting needles
4. 2 cable needles (regular double sided ones work just fine.)
5. Sewing needles
Make a slip knot as shown above ^ (make a loop with the yarn and pull the long side through the loop and tighten)
Cast on by holding the yarn like a gun and wrapping it around your thumb and pointer finger. Pick up the string on your thumb and it should create a loop around the needle as shown.
Repeat 24 more time so that you have 25 stitches total on the main needle.

Ok, this is a pattern that most intermediate knitters would know how to follow. For all of you new to the joy of knitting, let me explain.
To knit, pick up the first stitch, putting the new needle in the back
Take the yarn and thread it though (back to front) in between the two needles.
Pull the stitch onto the back needle by pulling it downward through the loop created with new piece of yarn.
Repeat 5 times.
To purl, move the thread to the front. Follow the red line by looping it over the front needle.
Once again, pull the new yarn through the loop you created.
Repeat 6 times.
Knit 3 more, purl 6 more, knit 5 more.
For the next 9 rounds, alternate the stitches. Meaning knit the purls and purl the knits. (Keeping the numbers the same stitch amount)
Now we will start the cable stitch!
Purl the first 5 stitches.
Pick up the next three on a cable needle (I'm using a standard double pointed needle and it works just fine.) then knit the following three.
Put the three stitches (picked up on the cable needle) back onto the left main needle. Knit these three. You should get a crossed shape in the work.
Purl the next three stitches, repeat the cable cross pattern, then finish up the round by purling the last five
Keep on Keepin On!
Continue the alternating pattern from before for another 9 rounds.
Repeat the cross cable pattern and so on. In total, you should have 3 cross cable stitches and nine stitches in between each one.
Change It Up a Bit (!)
Begin knit, purl, knit, purling all of the 25 stitches for another 48 rounds. (Depending on how thick your leg is)
Cast off! Now you've finished the boot topper. If you're new to knitting, you won't know how to cast off, let me help you out.
Knit the first and second stitch. Pick up the first stitch you knit and pull it over the second, dropping it off of the needle. Continue adding one stitch at a time and dropping the back stitch off. When you get to the last stitch, cut the yarn and string it through the loop, tightening it.
Finish It Up!
Add buttons or felt decor if you prefer to make it more unique.
Take some yarn and a needle and stitch it up! Make sure it's tight so it doesn't come loose with all of the putting on and taking off.
Make another boot topper, following the exact directions for the first one.
Try Them On
Later the boot toppers with your preferred boots. I only have one pair at the moment, and yes, I know it doesn't match! I hope y'all enjoyed this tutorial and had fun making it. If you want to vote, I'd appreciate it because I need that gift card!;)
